People’s House

The Volkshaus Zurich opened its doors in November 1910 and has been a fixture for cultural and political events in the city for 100 years. The Volkshaus Zurich is a multifunctional and spacious building with a concert and theater hall (1,600 seats) at its heart, as well as a restaurant (200 seats), meeting rooms, event rooms, a sauna, and offices.

Since the premises can accommodate a total of 2,500 people, a powerful ventilation system that ensures a pleasant indoor climate even when the building is fully booked was an important aspect of the building’s technical modernization. For this reason, a total of nine COBAOPT (now: OPENdynamics) ventilation systems were installed. The COBAOPT system creates more pleasant room conditions than is possible with conventional systems. At the same time, it requires far less electrical and thermal energy to do so. A high-performance OPEN 700 EMS automation station, which is designed especially for small and medium-sized systems, controls and regulates the MSR technology in the Volkshaus Zurich. The hardware for controlling the building consists of a substation with a total of 20 OPEN IO modules.

OPENview enables monitoring and modification of system data via an Internet browser without special software and also offers the option of checking the required behavior of the system via trend recordings.
