Particularly strong in retrofit
Building IoT combined with classic building automation
With the OPEN.WRX AS (automation station), we offer a forward-looking solution for efficient system integration for increasingly complex BA projects. Despite its compact design, the OPEN.WRX controller has the largest range of integrated interfaces on the market: a total of 4 integrated IP interfaces and 4 integrated serial interfaces make the OPEN.WRX series the best choice in retrofit projects. After all, it is precisely in these projects that different systems need to be efficiently networked with each other in a limited amount of space.
The OPEN.WRX series is the way to the future of building automation: Here, the focus is on high working efficiency and maximum IT security. This is due on the one hand to the shortage of skilled workers in the industry, and on the other hand to the increasing networking in BA projects. Our new controller generation brings together the classic world of building automation and the new world of Building IoT into an efficient and secure overall system on one hardware platform.
World’s first BACnet/SC controller
As the first BACnet/SC controller, the OPEN.WRX AS enables BACnet networks to be encrypted in order to operate buildings securely again in the future. Especially in existing buildings with outdated BA systems, it makes sense to use the OPEN.WRX controller as a BACnet/SC hub and thus secure the entire BA network via BACnet/SC. The BACnet routing from BACnet IP and BACnet MS/TP to BACnet/SC is free of charge. From now on, encrypt your projects with the new OPEN.WRX AS – building automation has never been so secure!
Efficient system integration in 4 steps
Simply flexible
The new licensing model for system integration makes the use of the OPEN.WRX controller as flexible as possible. Main component are global data points, which can be used arbitrarily for protocol connections like BACnet Client, Modbus Master, KNX or M-Bus. Spontaneous changes in the area of protocol connections, e.g. on the construction site, can thus be implemented flexibly, quickly and easily at any time. Furthermore, smaller connections and connection tests in the project are possible without the purchase of data point licenses, since 25 of these global data points are already included with the purchase of the OPEN.WRX controller.
Highlights at a glance:
- 4 integrated IP interfaces & 4 integrated serial interfaces (reduces the required gateways to a minimum)
- Up to 3 integrated Modbus RTU and/or BACnet MS/TP lines can be used in parallel
- Flexible engineering of protocol connections through global data point licenses
Three variants for flexible system integration
Simply efficient
Due to the shortage of skilled workers, the focus is on working efficiently with the OPEN.WRX generation. With the most powerful DDC controller on the market, computing processes become significantly faster, saving you a lot of time during commissioning. The OPEN.WRX AS does not reach its performance limits, even in complex SI projects. The new status dashboard and efficient programming with our libraries also further reduce your personnel efforts during project planning. OPEN.WRX AS – the controller that reduces effort!
Simply safe
The increasing networking of systems in the building conversely demands more and more security of the systems used. In the field of building automation, we are now providing the new OPEN.WRX AS, the first BACnet/SC controller and thus an encrypted and standardized interface protocol, thus ensuring maximum security for BA systems.
- Encrypt building automation systems with BACnet/SC
- Integrated firewall and HTTPS encryption of communication
- Audit trail: logging and historization of changes to the entire controller configurations
Additional security with the Service & Security Center
With the OPEN Service & Security Center and the integrated IT security functions, you protect your DDC controllers and thus your building automation from unauthorized access and cyber attacks from outside. Setting up and adjusting the firewall is intuitive and can be implemented without in-depth IT know-how via preconfigured security modes.
Simply compatible
In order to make the use of our new generation of controllers as simple as possible, the compatibility of the new system is particularly important to us. Therefore, we specifically focus on compatibility with the existing DEOS portfolio. The OPEN.WRX series can thus be seen as a complement to the current DEOS system.
- Programmable with well-known DEOS tools such as OPEN FXL 4 and OPENweb (from OPENweb 10)
- Compatible with DEOS macro and template libraries
- Compatible with DEOS CAN IO modules of all generations
- Mixed operation in projects of OPEN EMS Controllers and OPEN.WRX Controllers
- BACnet controller with full interoperability with other systems – with BACnet/SC now also encrypted
Technical highlights at a glance
- Configuration and analysis of BACnet/SC connections directly on the controller
- Free BACnet routing from BACnet IP and BACnet MS/TP to BACnet/SC
- Expandable to up to 64 CAN IO modules without additional license costs
- Up to three integrated Modbus RTU and/or BACnet MS/TP lines can be used in parallel
- Even with complex system integration of e.g. 4,000 data points, the OPEN.WRX does not run under full load
- Dedicated power provisioning for serial ports
- Status dashboard significantly reduces analysis times in the area of protocol connections

Frequently asked questions
You have questions, we have answers. Here we present the frequently asked questions about the OPEN.WRX AS.
With which DEOS systems is the OPEN.WRX AS compatible?
The OPEN.WRX AS is programmed with OPEN FXL 4 and is compatible with the DEOS BMS/MBE OPENweb from version 10. Furthermore, the DEOS macro libraries can be used for programming as usual. In the hardware area, the existing CAN IO modules are compatible with the OPEN.WRX system. A detailed compatibility list is available for download from the DEOS portal.
Which engineering tool is used to program the OPEN.WRX AS?
The OPEN FXL 4 is used for programming OPEN.WRX AS. So there is no need to learn how to use a new engineering tool. Furthermore, the OPEN.WRX AS is compatible with the existing DEOS macro libraries. A detailed compatibility list is available for download from the DEOS portal.
Is mixed operation of OPEN.WRX AS controllers and OPEN EMS controllers possible in one project?
Yes, mixed operation of the two controller generations within a project is possible.
What is meant by a global data point or the global data point license?
With the OPEN.WRX series a common license for the system integration of BACnet Client, Modbus Master, KNX and M-Bus can be purchased. I. e. one global data point can be used for the project engineering of the mentioned four protocol connections. Switching between the protocols is then possible at any time.
What is the counting method in relation to the global data point licensing model?
A global data point license stands for:
- 1 BACnet client object or
- 1 active Modbus master data point or
- 1 KNX data point or
- 1 M-Bus counter.
How can I find all the documents offered by DEOS for the OPEN.WRX series?
All relevant documents for the OPEN.WRX series such as data sheets, LV texts, price lists, certificates, etc. can be found for system partners in the DEOS portal. To get an overview of the available documents, only the filters Product family (automation stations) and Product group (OPEN.WRX AS) have to be set accordingly.
