Airport Tower Frankfurt a. M.
DEOS AG is one of the few manufacturers worldwide to offer a fully redundant system for BACnet building automation, which is why it was awarded the contract by Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS), headquartered in Langen, Hesse, to equip the Frankfurt Airport Tower with redundant building technology.
DEOS Gebäudeautomation GmbH took on the implementation of this safety-critical challenge. The company installed a redundant building automation system in the Frankfurt Tower for ventilation, heating, and cooling, controlled by 10 high-performance BACnet controllers from the OPEN EMS series. In the event of a failure, a second automation station immediately takes over all functions, ensuring flight safety at all times.
The electrical systems are also integrated into the DEOS automation system, controlling temperature, lighting, and sun protection in the tower and the adjacent base structure according to the needs of the staff. This results in greater comfort in the workplace for the staff and, at the same time, cost savings for the tower operator through increased energy efficiency.
The entire system is connected to the extensive DFS network via open BACnet communication. German Air Traffic Control accesses the relevant data conveniently, directly, and above all securely from the control center in Langen.
