Airport Tower Frankfurt a. M.
DEOS AG offers – as one of the few manufacturers worldwide – a fully redundant system for BACnet building automation and was thus awarded the contract by the German Air Traffic Control (DFS) based in Langen, Hesse, to equip the Frankfurt airport tower with redundant building technology.
DEOS Gebäudeautomation GmbH took on the implementation of this safety-related challenge. They installed a redundant building automation system in the areas of ventilation, heating and cooling in the Frankfurt Tower, which is controlled via 10 powerful BACnet controllers of the OPEN EMS series. In the event of a failure, a second automation station immediately takes over all functions so that flight safety is guaranteed at all times.
The electrical system is also integrated into the DEOS automation system, controlling temperature, lighting and sun protection in the tower and the associated base building, according to the needs of the staff. This results in greater comfort at the workplace for the employees and, at the same time, cost savings for the tower operator due to higher energy efficiency.
The entire facility is connected to the extensive DFS network via open BACnet communication. The German Air Traffic Control has convenient, direct and, above all, secure access to the relevant data in the control centre in Langen.
