Berlin Zoo

Spanning 160 hectares, Berlin Zoo now offers enough space for up to 10,000 animals, making it the largest landscape zoo in Europe.

Between 2008 and 2010, the new heating system in the boiler house was modernized and put into operation. This system supplies the entire zoo and was equipped with state-of-the-art building automation technology from DEOS AG. Various DEOS controllers were installed for the central control and regulation functions. The web-based building management system OPENweb also simplifies the operation and monitoring of all building services systems across the entire grounds of Tierpark Berlin. Since both OPENweb and the installed DEOS controllers are BACnet-compatible, it is possible to combine them with systems from various manufacturers, thereby fulfilling the requirements of the zoo’s technical director.
