    How can you save energy with a wireless thermostat?

    Heating costs can be significantly reduced with DEOS TEO, especially in older existing buildings. The radiator thermostat is only the first step in turning your existing building into a post-digitalized smart building. Link DEOS TEO with other LoRaWAN wireless sensors such as presence detectors, door and window contacts or multi-sensors to determine the room temperature: If offices are unoccupied for a longer period of time or windows are not closed, the heating output is automatically reduced. This enables you to tap further energy-saving potential and maximize your energy efficiency. In addition, DEOS TEO is vendor-neutral and can be integrated into an existing building automation system.

    Thermostat with maximum safety

    When used in functional buildings, radiator thermostats have to meet many requirements that do not exist in the classic smart home sector. Due to various safety features, you will enjoy DEOS TEO for a long time:

    • Blockage protection: DEOS TEO opens the heating valve at regular intervals to avoid blockage. Thus, heating works smoothly even after a long period of inactivity.
    • Protection against theft and vandalism: So that you can use the radiator thermostat with peace of mind in functional buildings such as offices, hotels or schools, DEOS TEO is connected with a fuse and is optimally protected against external forces by the robust design and by the housing.
    • No manual operation: The radiator thermostats can only be set via authorized access in the browser in the IoT platform. This prevents unauthorized persons from manipulating temperature settings. This is indispensable in functional buildings. Optionally, the temperatures can be controlled via a room control unit.
    • Fallback mode: If DEOS TEO loses the connection to the IoT platform, the heating program will switch to fallback mode after several connection problems and regulate the temperature to predefined temperature values.
    How much energy can I save with DEOS TEO?

    Up to 40% heating energy can be saved with an individual room control system such as DEOS TEO.

    Which heaters is DEOS TEO suitable for?

    DEOS TEO is designed for standard radiators such as panel or radiator radiators. DEOS TEO is not suitable for underfloor heating systems, as the temperature for generating energy via the thermogenerator is too low.

    How do I install DEOS TEO?

    DEOS TEO has a valve connection with the size M30 x 1.5. Various adapters are available for other valve bodies.

    Why don't I need a cable or batteries?

    DEOS TEO is equipped with a patented thermogenerator that generates electrical energy from the heat generated by the heating flow temperature. The integrated battery is charged automatically by this thermogenerator.

    How long does the battery last?

    The general battery life varies depending on the number of motor running times. In general, the DEOS TEO can generate enough energy for smooth operation during a heating phase of 90 days a year with a flow temperature of over 45°C. In the case of pure communication every 10 minutes without running the motor, the battery life is even longer than 5 years.

    What happens in summer when the heating is turned off completely?

    As a rule, the battery life is sufficient over the summer period so that DEOS TEO still has sufficient remaining capacity for the next heating period. If the thermostat reaches a battery level of 25% or less, the motor moves to the “forced heating” position, in which the valve is 50% open. As soon as heating operation starts, the battery is also charged. The DEOS TEO also has sufficient energy available for installation in summer, as the internal battery is already charged on delivery.

    How can I set my temperature and the time programs?

    The setpoints can be set at room, area or building level using the local control and the browser function. The operating times can also be stored via weekdays. The browser function also offers the option of setting special times, such as on public holidays.

    Where can DEOS TEO be used?

    DEOS TEO can be used in any non-residential building. DEOS TEO can be installed on any radiator that is equipped with an existing radiator thermostat.

    How does DEOS TEO communicate?

    DEOS TEO communicates via LoRa and sends the data to a gateway. The LoRaWAN gateway in turn communicates via MQTT using an Ethernet cable as standard. The DEOS TEO solution can be integrated into a building automation system via Modbus.

    What does LoRaWAN mean?

    If communication between the LoRa gateway and the DEOS TEO is interrupted, the internal control in the device itself ensures that the set room temperature is maintained. The last communicated value is used as the control. The stored time programs are not taken into account, as these are controlled via the gateway itself. Such an error is displayed in the platform so that appropriate measures can be taken. If communication between the LoRa gateway and the platform is interrupted, no changes can be made remotely. The LoRa gateway continues to function with the existing parameters.

    Are there accessories for DEOS TEO?

    A magnetic pen is required for activation and deactivation. DEOS TEO can also be expanded with sensors from the LoRa network. These include temperature sensors, presence detectors or window contacts.

    Is there theft protection?

    Yes, theft protection is available.

    Does DEOS TEO have a frost protection function?

    If the temperature range of the valve sensor is less than or equal to 6°C, the valve opens 95%.

    Is DEOS TEO protected against failure due to calcification?

    Yes, DEOS TEO has integrated valve protection. A reference run is carried out every 6 weeks. The motor opens and closes completely once. This prevents seizure due to limescale or similar.

    What are the advantages of a LoRaWAN wireless thermostat?

    LoRaWAN devices have a long range and are very secure thanks to end-to-end encryption. They are also cost-effective, energy-efficient and offer a wide range of applications.

    DEOS TEO is completely maintenance-free, unlike many conventional smart home thermostats, as no batteries are required for operation. The thermostat uses energy harvesting and obtains its required energy from the applied heat of the radiator by means of an integrated thermogenerator.

    Installation is very simple: unscrew the old thermostat, screw on the DEOS TEO – and you’re done. With the universal connection adapter, installation on the common valves is possible without any problems – even without skilled personnel.
