Ice arena O’Brien Group Arena

The venue contains two Olympic sized ice rinks, state-of-the-art sound and light systems, stadium seating for up to 1,000 people, specialist winter sports gym and a café, bar and function rooms.

The HVAC control system for the airside plant is the OPEN EMS DDC control system manufactured by DEOS AG in Rheine, Germany and distributed on licence in Australia by DEOS Australia. The DEOS control system has been selected for this project above all else because of its exclusive ability in Australia to run the COBAOPT System (today: OPENdynamics), also developed in Germany.

The HVAC-system had to ensure a temperature on the ice of -2 °C, 1.5 m above ice 14 °C for human comfort. Additional challenges were the stratification issues that come with a > 10m high ceiling and the heat transfer to and melting of ice. There have to be realized two change of states at ice. In simplest possible terms the COBAOPT System uses a unique control algorithm to create uniform mixing of the air molecules. The result is an even temperature spread throughout occupied space and energy savings on the operation of the HVAC plant.

Hells Holiday Resort

Hells Holiday Resort

The foundation stone of Hells Holiday Resort in the mountains of Tyrol was laid almost 60 years ago. Since then the camp in Fugen in Zillertal has been grown up into an extensive holiday paradise with comfortable apartments and chalets as well as a large camp ground with about 200 sites.

The holiday resort was modernized in 2014 and equipped with a new modern heating system. The DEOS building management system regulates OPENweb and controls this new power plant, which supplies the whole camp. By means of the new system and the energy-efficient control through the DEOS building automation, Hells Holiday Resort can save 373,000 kWh a year of energy as well as the associated costs and the environment at the same time.

Therme Erding bathing complex

The Therme Erding is the world’s largest thermal water spa with a total area of 180,000 m² and around 1.6 million visitors every year. The thermal spa uses state-approved curative geothermal water.

Sport Center De Swaneburg

The indoor swimming pool in the sports center De Swaneburg in Coevorden had to be completely renovated in summer 2014 because of safety deficiencies in the building design. Due to the renovation costs and the budget cutbacks, the management searched for the possibility to reduce the operating costs permanently. The DEOS cost control technology for ventilation systems OPENbalance (today: OPENdynamics) has proved to be the best solution for this project.

The old ventilation systems have been preserved and equipped with frequency controllers. By means of these controllers OPENdynamics can set the ventilation so that the most cost-effective operating point will be achieved. Consequently, OPENdynamics ensures reduced energy consumption and savings cost. At the same time, it guarantees a pleasant room climate and improved air quality.

Bathing complex Euskirchen

Spread over approximately 18,000 m², visitors to the thermal spa and swimming pool complex in Euskirchen can enjoy several different pool landscapes and saunas. There is also an outdoor facility and a palm tree paradise with more than 500 real palm trees.

Wörtherseestadion

Woertherseestadion is establisched between Klagenfurt and the Woerthersee in a wonderful landscape of mountain ranges and green hills. After 20 months of construction time the soccer stadium was completed punctually for the European Football Championship 2008.

To ensure an efficient and environmentally friendly use of energy, all light and ventilation systems were equipped with modern building control systems of DEOS AG.

Two OPEN 3000 EMS controller monitor and control over 928 physical data points, six ventilation systems and a range of air-conditioning units. The OPEN EMS installation also manages the complete and interactive arrangement for lighting and shutters for the whole arena. For this, every mains distributor point thoughout the large complex is monitored for faults, and this includes phase monitoring and assessment of fault current relays. Emergency power generation is also integrated into the comprehensive facility management system considering mains failures as well as peak-load reaction throughout the installation. Prerequisite therefore is the determination of the consumption data which will be acquire for the building control system via controller or PC.

The combined open-air and indoor swimming pool is the largest bath in Worms. The combination bath offers for the active swimmer as well as for families an interesting proposal for an experience-rich stay.
